Different Fonts.

This is the font that i chose in the end as i wanted something fairly plain so it went well with the image and didn't distract from it, but some of the other fonts i chose were a little too plain or too curly etc. But i think this has just the right amount of detail in it.

This font was too plain, and didn't bring much to the image.

I like this font, but i didn't feel that the style of it didn't go with the rest of the image.

I also liked this font, but i feel that it's not quite right with the image.

I tried re-positioning the font but i didn't like it here so i left it at the top as i felt there was a bigger space left.

Challenge 4: Mr bingo

Above is an image from Mr Bingo, I have used him as a practitioner as you can see from above he does well to put a witty spin in his work. He has created some pieces for The Mighty Boosh which were published in The Mighty Book of Boosh. Mr Bingo also did some of the character and background designs for the BBC Three animates TV series Monkey Dust and also created some posters for the Scottish Food Standards Agency. Along side these he has also worked with such companies as Orange, Microsoft, Nick, Volkswagen, Converse and many more.

I'm intrigued by his work and after looking at some of his work in more depth on his website, I have really grown to like it.

Challenge 4: Feedback.

This is the feedback I got back from Nick, from this i have decided to go for my pig with human parts idea. I'm also going to look into doing the piece with photoshop rather than as a painting as well.

Challenge 4: Contacting the Mentor

Above is the email i have sent Nick asking for some feedback on both of my final two ideas, hopefully his feedback will help me choose between the two ideas.

Task 4: Angela Singer

Angela Singer is an animal activist and artist. I love her work, the way each piece speaks volumes for each animal that are unable to talk themselves. After studying in New Zealand for a year in 2001-02 she has gone on to do the best thought provoking work for animal rights since 2006.

Challenge 3: Project Proposals

Challenge 3: My Ideas

Idea 1: Issue - Vegetarianism
My first idea is to do a big drawing/painting of an animal (pig, cow, lamb etc) using human parts as their accessories. For example, I will have a drawing of a pig using a human head as a bag or a lamb using human arms and hands as a scarf.

Idea 2: Issue - Eating Disorders
Another one of my ideas evolves around eating disorders, I want to do a drawing/painting of a girl with an 'out of order' sign covering her mouth to show the issues of girls and women starving themselves in order to lose weight.

Idea 3: Issue - Vegetarianism
My last idea is again based on vegetarianism, where I am going to rearrange the food chain where the animals will be at the top, and humans down at the bottom.

Challenge 3: Issue Rationales

I have a few ideas spinning round at the moment: vegetarianism and eating disorders. Both of these issues are quite close to me, and I suppose they can be linked as people with eating disorders cut out foods from their diet to make it easier to lose weight. However, with both of these ideas there are a few potential problems with both of these ideas. With eating disorders, there would be a risk of offending people with eating disorders, and with vegetarianism there could be a risk of scaring younger children. I need to think hard about both of these ideas, and decide which issue would be more appropriate to continue further with.

Challenge 1: Jessica Simpson meets Isabelle Caro

In this video, not only have you got Natalie being open about her problems, you also have Jessica's reaction. Both of them are moving for different reasons, jessica realising the pain Natalie's gone through and hearing it from Natalie.

Anorexia

Click Here to hear Natalie Caro's story.

This story is very moving, hearing her talk about how she hasn't gained any weight since she was a teenager until now was shocking. The issues surrounding anorexia have terrifying effects, and people suffering from anorexia have to overcome so many smaller issues before facing the main one.

Practice Spray Painting

I had to put double sided sticky tape onto the back of my stencil so that would stick onto my board.

After I had stuck my stencil to the board I had to put on a mask to stop me from inhaling any fumes. After I was ready, i had to hold the spray can 30cm away from the board and do swift movements sided to side to cover the board.

Stencil Problems

I have had a little trouble putting my stencils together, as i have realised when i have a word in a box, I need to build bridges to make sure that the word stays in the stencil instead of just cutting the box out. This means i have to go back over my stencils and make sure that they are right.

Adbusters

Adbusters Media Foundation is a not-for-profit, anti-consumerist organization founded in 1989 by Kalle Lasn and Bill Schmalz inVancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The foundation describes itself as "a global network of artists, activists, writers, pranksters, students, educators and entrepreneurs who want to advance the new social activist movement of the information age."

Adbusters is “anti-consumerist": it cites advertising as a central force in creating consumer culture. This position holds that the advertising industry goes to great effort and expense to associate desire and identity with commodities. Adbusters believes that advertising has unjustly "colonized" public, discursive and psychic spaces, by appearing in movies, sports and even schools, so as to permeate modern cultures.[13] Adbusters' goals include combating the negative effects of advertising and empowering its readers to regain control of culture, encouraging them to ask "Are we consumers and citizens?"

Felt tips on polystyrene

Felt tips didn't work too well on the polystyrene, they didn't sink in, which made it really easy to rub off. I tried using hairspray to stick the felt tip to the polystyrene, this worked, though it initially made the pen drip and run down the cup.

Practice using Acrylic paints on polystyrene

Above are some photo's of me practicing painting on polystyrene. The paint took quite well to the polystyrene, however, it was quite tricky to keep it steady as i was holding the cup in one hand and painting with the other, if i were to use paints then i would have to think of something to use to cut the head on which would rotate round making it easier for me to paint.

Change of Plan.

I've been thinking about my idea, and as i thought it would be hard to find 'plus size' models who would be comfortable in front of the camera. Therefore I have decided to re look at my idea. Now I'm looking at a more fashion photography which could maybe come into some sort of marketing campaign for a magazine.

Cheryl Cole - Highways Across Continents

Cheryl Cole duetted with a hologram of the Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am at the DLD Starnight event in Munich. Having this technology means that Cheryl Cole doesn't have to be with Will.i.am to perform their track together. This saves on money, as Will.i.am didn't have to fly to Germany to perform with Cheryl.

New technology has also meant that Cheryl Cole and Dizzee Rascal didn't have to meet to record their new single. Dizzee told the Independent: "It was like it never happened. I never saw her. They sent me three tracks and i basically picked the one I thought would be best." He continued: "If they just send you the track, you can get it done in your own studio, in your own comfort zone. It should be good. It will be good. It's Cheryl Cole, innit.'

Dizzee Rascal has admitted he has never met Cheryl and he hasn't even heard their duet.
